We desire to be seen and known and loved. Jesus is the only one that can fill these needs. Anything or anyone else that we use to fill these needs is an idol.

Our mission is to make disciples. We can do this through marriage OR singleness.

God’s Spirit is not a “Jiminy-Cricket-Let-Your-Conscience-Be-Your-Guide”. God’s Spirit is the only source of life, and hope, and peace, and if I wanted life, and hope, and peace, then I wanted God. And if I wanted God, then I had to say “Not my life, but yours!”

You may not know what God is up to in your situation, but you can say, “God, I want you and I want what you have for me.”

We must dethrone sex and marriage from the idols that they have become while elevating it to the Gospel metaphor that they are.

Ephesians 5

“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and the two shall be united as one. This is a great mystery but I’m talking about Christ and the Church.”

Ephesians 1:12

“He is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come.”

Men and women are different, but how different is God from humanity? He is ontologically different and yet he wants to and will marry us! This is the whole story of The Bible starts and ends with a marriage. When we die to self to be one with our very different spouse, we show the world how Jesus died to be one with us and how we must daily die to ourselves to be increasingly one with Him.

Our flesh fights union with God and union with our spouse. The second we feel a sliver of division, we must fight our natural tendencies and fight for union and oneness.

You DO have a choice. You can say “no” to God. There is freedom, love, and life in Christ. Put everything on the table and let him meet you there. He is always sovereign and he will not be surprised by your doubts and struggles.

We are all on different paths-- don’t discount the journey that you are on. God has something unique for you! You are strategically placed and it is for God’s glory and your good.
