Amanda Phelan is an ex-pat living in Central America and a woman who sees that serving one child well is changing the world.

Amanda is a passionate educator who instills a love of learning in each of her students. Born and raised in North Carolina, Amanda has set out on a new adventure teaching 2nd grade in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Before this, she was serving the poorest of the poor in her local community in a tragically under-resourced school in Charlotte, NC. Her new assignment abroad involves educating the most privileged children of political power-players in an International school in Guatemala City.

She's committed to educating students, colleagues, families, and the community by establishing strong connections. With a Masters in elementary education, Amanda is an expert elementary teacher educating little hearts and minds to be open to learning and to the world.

Amanda believes that if you can't access a child's heart you can't educate their mind. Listen in as she shares what motivates her and all she had to overcome to get to where she is today.
