S4 Episode #17- Lisa Buben
THE ONE WITH LISA BUBEN
This week we are excited to welcome Lisa Buben to the show! Lisa reminds us of the love of our Heavenly Father and His power to redeem and restore the broken places in our lives. If you are walking through unforeseen hardship and need a dose of encouragement, then this episode is for you. Tune in for a powerful word about the hope that can only be found in the Lord.
Here is a little about Lisa, in her own words:
”My favorite name right now is “Lolly!” That is the name my granddaughter Poppy calls me. My husband’s name is “Pop”… are you catching on yet – we are Lollypop. 😊 Everyone tells you that being a grandparent is the best thing in the whole world and my reply is, “AMEN!” I feel very blessed & loved by my husband of 28 years Ben and our 2 sons, Hunter & Austin. Hunter married his love Abby, and Poppy is their daughter who will be 3 in September. Austin is graduating from college later this year and is excited for his next season, which will for sure include his love, Gracie.
I am the Business Manager for a luxury interior design studio on Amelia Island and love working there because it is perfect for my left / right brain mix. Decorating my home has always brought me great joy and I love the challenge of growing a business. In essence I get to help people stretch and grow to their full potential and create processes and systems to enhance the bottom line of our business.
Learning who I am as a daughter of Christ has been a journey I’ve been on since 2006 when I started a direct sales business and my mentor taught us business tools using biblical principles. I knew instantly I wanted to know who Jesus was and why my soul was feeling so warm and peaceful. My story starts there and has not stopped since, I look forward to sharing some of it with you!”

God knows everything about us and He is so patient in the way that He draws us to Him in exactly the ways that we need.
If you are feeling alone and isolated, Lisa encourages you to take the first step toward community. Try just one thing different today than what you have done in the past. Maybe a call or text to a friend, or watching church online.
God can use every bit of the suffering and pain that you have walked through to glorify His name and bring something good out of it.
Sometimes it feels like you might be stuck, but you are never truly stuck, there is always a small step that you can take– even in a season of waiting.
Hearing from the Lord
If God puts someone on your heart, don’t ignore that prompting. Send a quick text to them, reach out, pray for them. This might be the exact encouragement that they need!
Spend time with The Lord everyday. As you spend time in The Word of God, and live “on mission”, you’ll learn how to discern the Voice of God in your life.
Saying ‘yes’ to The Lord does not mean that the struggles all cease, but it does mean that God is with you every step of the way.
Walking through Hardship
Lisa and her husband walked through a very dark time in their marriage where both of them had to reckon with patterns of sin in their lives that were going to destroy their relationship if they didn’t make changes. They had to surrender every little thing to the Lord and learn what it truly meant to walk with him.
Don’t give up. This type of healing and restoration takes time. Stay connected with your faith community. Seek out professional help through counseling and therapy.
Book Recommendation: The Power of the Praying Wife
Surround yourself with people who will love you both and continually point you back to the hope of the Father.
Love never fails! In Christ, we know the end of the story. Love will win, and we must daily choose love, grace, and mercy.
The Character of God
The whole story of God is a love story. He is always making a way for us to experience His love. We must just accept it.
Working through Trauma Triggers
Spend time investing in yourself and learning about why you react and respond in the ways that you do.
Make time for yourself– work out, invest in counseling, spend time with The Lord everyday. Say ‘yes’ to the things that fill you and connect you back to who you were created to be.
Lisa’s Life Message
Love, love, love. Always choose love. Love is a choice, and we must choose it every day.
Embrace joy and laughter.
Take a step forward. God promises us victory, so take a baby step and see what happens!
Final Thoughts
Practice gratitude! Life is not perfect, there are struggles everyday, but in the midst of it all we have so much to be thankful for.
