THE ONE WITH MARIA ABBE
This week we are so excited to welcome Maria Abbe to the show! Join us as Maria shares her story of letting go of control, walking through suffering, experiencing God’s faithfulness in the middle, and finding freedom and beauty on the other side.
Maria Abbe is the founder of RunningMyselfTogether, a ministry dedicated to bringing Christ’s light to women through running and mental health awareness. Imposter Syndrome
Believing that you don’t have what it takes. Sometimes it requires taking the leap, and taking the risk to overcome the lie that you aren’t enough. The unique passions and gifts that God has given you are also for the benefit of others. The people around you need what you have to offer!
When we are doing the work that God has given us, we will often face spiritual attack because the devil doesn’t want us to be effective for the Kingdom of God. This is why we must be walking step by step with Christ so we can identify the lies and combat them with Biblical truth.
Jesus is faithful… but this doesn’t mean that everything will always work out how we expected. If God is calling you to something, He will be faithful! However, His provision might not look how we anticipated. We must be constantly on the lookout for God’s work in our lives.
Letting Go
Many eating disorders are rooted in the desire to be able to control an aspect of your life. BUT the freedom on the other side is so much better than life with an eating disorder. This concept applies to whatever your struggle may be-- the freedom on the other side of the struggle is worth the work that it takes to make it through to the other side.
“Sometimes you have to do the hard thing, knowing that it might bring suffering, but understanding that God can take that suffering and make beautiful things come out of it.”
Obedience brings freedom-- even when it is hard.
What to do when you are stuck in the middle?
Fully surrender, even if you have to mentally picture laying the struggle down at the foot of the cross every single day.
Listen to your gut. Try to understand what is the root of the anxiety. This will help you identify the next right step.
Pray a prayer of trust and then walk in obedience. You don’t have to have all the answers.
You have the free will to choose the path that you’ll take.
Mind, Body, Soul Connection
Finding a wholeness perspective-- for example: When you are running or working out, take that time to pray for people in your life.
Final Thoughts
Surrender is a lifelong process. We won’t get it right every time, and there will always be more roadblocks, but surrender brings freedom. A life of surrender can be more beautiful and freeing that we could have ever asked or imagined.
Thoughts from Jes
II Peter 3-- Peter is clarifying the certainty of the coming of Christ!
How do we respond when things don’t happen in our timing? Our focus needs to be on the character of Christ-- not on our own expectations of when or how things should happen.
What God has promised WILL be delivered.
Just because something hasn’t happened yet does not mean it won’t even happen.
