S3 Episode #13- Grace Valentine
THE ONE WITH GRACE VALENTINE
Grace Valentine is a popular twenty-something author and social media influencer. In her latest book, Is It Just Me: Learning to Trust God in the middle of Hurts, Doubts, and Fears, she is refreshingly direct, unafraid to share her honest, heartfelt thoughts and feelings. She explains, “I don’t know about you, but I want to hear from people like me who struggle, mess up, and occasionally battle against insecurity but point me to the Bible and God’s truth. Instead of perfection, I want real. Instead of pretend, I want genuine.”

“I’m not the kind of person you would expect to write a book about faith and life. Perhaps that’s what makes God so cool-- He uses people like you and me to bring Him glory. He uses our mistakes and mess ups to make His name great.”
“If God called me to it, I’m gonna do it!” Even if it gets hard, we must learn to trust God through the struggles.
Shame doesn’t convict you-- shame tells you that you’re stuck, but it won’t necessarily lead you to change. Shame is not from The Lord.
When you say “yes” to Jesus he will take you on a path that is unique to you. He can take you to places that you may never have expected.
Truth about Your Story
Your story is important.
Every part has value.
It doesn’t matter if you feel too old, or too young, or too busy, or too stressed... Your story matters.
Your story is not forgotten.
People around you are also struggling, and they need what you have to offer.
When we are going through tough seasons, we need to remember that this might be a “bad chapter”, but it is not a “bad story”. We must remember that our author is good. Don’t give up on God because you don’t see the blessings instantly; God is always up to something… even when we can’t see it.
Being in a lonely season, an in-between season, or a growing season can teach us new ways of how to trust in God. Even if we don’t have the thing we’re waiting for, we still have God.
Nothing is wasted. The wait is not a waste.
Struggling to find purpose?
Sometimes our childhood dreams give us clues about what we are created for. If you are searching for your next steps, ask yourself, “Who would I have needed when I was younger?” That might give you a fresh perspective about what you’re passionate about.
Get out there and serve!
